This is the inaugural NFL Lockdown Draft recap. I plan on revisiting this after each round we get through and providing you with the biggest steal, biggest reach, and biggest surprise of each round. I intend on asking for input so if you want to help give advice, please let me know at any time what you are thinking. With that said, lets get on with Round 1.
Round 1 started out slower than we anticipated, but we finished strong. There were 8 total trades. Some team's strategies are starting to show whether they are planning to build their team through the rookie draft like the Saints or through the Veteran draft like the Giants.
Biggest Steal - Christian McCaffrey - Dallas Cowboys - Run CMC with pick 15 is definitely a steal if he comes back healthy. He is the number 1 dynasty player when he is at full health, so getting him at pick 15 will be a steal.
Biggest Reach - Jalen Hurts - Miami Dolphins - Jalen hurts picked at 17 was a big surprise to me. He has a lot of questions around him right now. I understand why Miami picked him. If he pans out, getting a quarterback that cheap will turn in to a steal, but we have not seen enough of him yet to pick him at 17. Time will tell.
Biggest Surprise - I will post 2 surprises here. My first one was Dak Prescott going at pick 24 to the LA Chargers. Dak faced a brutal injury last year, but he got PAID! If he returns to full strength he will put up top QB numbers with the weapons he has. However, for a couple of more dollars the Chargers could have selected P Mahomes. Lets see if this gamble pays off.
My 2nd surprise is really not a surprise to myself or others who know Wildchild, but to some it might have been. Lets face it, Wildchild/Saints loves his Rookie picks. The Saints traded away his 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 8th veteran picks to the Giants for all of their Rookie picks. The Saints can then pair Patrick Mahomes with all of those affordable rookies to put together and interesting team.
I hope you enjoyed edition 1 of the NFL Lockdown Draft Recap. If you would like to be a guest reporter for a round, let me know!

Well I wasn't expecting to have to write up a round 2 summary just 24 hours later, but here we are. Awesome job everyone with being active and getting our picks in. This league is really shaping up to be a fun one. People's strategies are starting to take form, and others are waiting and letting the board fall to them. With that said, here is our Round 2 recap:
Biggest Steal - George Kittle - San Francisco - Pick 26 in Round 2. George Kittle is a fantasy stud when healthy. This seemed like a no brainer pick for the 49ers even though his contract is a little high. This is a position that is scarce, so getting a top one can be pivotal to a fantasy championship.
2nd Biggest Steal - Brandon Aiyuk - Pick 23 Round 2 - Washington Football Team. His playmaking skills along with his cheap contract made this a great pick. Coincidence they are both 49ers?? Either way I really liked these 2 picks the most as they were the ones I was targeting for my pick.
Biggest Reach - Damien Harris - Pick 9 Round 2 - Los Angeles Chargers. Damien Harris is a decent running back, but with Bill Belichick running the show, you never know who he is going to give the ball to on any given day. There was too much value at the wide receiver or tight end position to take Harris there. However, running back is pretty thin so you need to get them when you can, so I understand the pick.
2nd Biggest Reach - AJ Dillon - Pick 27 Round 2 - Jacksonville Jaguars This hurts me to write this as I love Dillon. However, the Packers resigning Aaron Jones hurts Dillons overall value. Don't get me wrong, Dillon will still get his share of carries, but he probably won't reach his 2nd round draft grade. I hope I am wrong here though!
Biggest surprise - DeShaun Watson - LA Rams - Pick 16 Round 2 - If DeShaun Watson wasn't in the news for all of his "issues" off the field and for saying he will sit out, he would have been a for sure 1st round pick. I was waiting to see who would be the brave one to pull the trigger and that man was Vern and the Rams. We will see if this pays off in the end.
Hope you all have enjoyed Round 2 of our NFL Lockdown Draft Recap. Keep up the good work everyone!

The 3rd Round is now complete and there was a lot of loaded talent getting drafted, making it hard to make this write up, but here we go.
Steal of the Round - This was the toughest one for me to come up with this round, as there were so many picks I loved. I'll start at pick 13 with Jeremy Chinn by the Rams. Chinn is a cheap contract and a tackling machine who is sure to rack up those fantasy points from the safety position.
My next steals are Robert Woods (Pick 16 Bears) and Cooper Kupp (Pick 19 Raiders). This deadly Rams duo is bound to put up better numbers with Stafford now slinging passes. With Goff they were both top fantasy receiver options, so it will be interesting to see what their production will look like with Stafford.
Biggest Reach - Jordan Love - Pick 24 LA Chargers - What can I say, a back up quarterback in the 3rd round? I am thinking this was 2 rounds too early, but who really knows. This is also the Chargers 2nd quarterback. However, if Rodgers does in deed move on after this year like the media is predicting, this could turn into a steal and lead to a major trade package for LA down the road. Like all of the reaches thus far, time will only tell. As a Packers fan, I hope this stays a reach and we see Rodgers a few more years in Titletown.
Biggest Surprise - My first biggest surprise is how the Giants pulled off 3 straight picks in the 3rd round. With making trades with both New Orleans and Arizona, the Giants managed to draft Amari Cooper, Mark Andrews, and Jealon Reagor. All 3 could turn out to be great picks and it is looking like the Giants are building a powerhouse.
2nd Biggest Surprise - How many people wanted Daniel Jones! At first I was thinking that the pick might have been a reach, but soon after the likes of the mad genius Burk and others all said they were trying to trade up for him. I thought about it for a little bit, but instead went with Mike Evans.
Once again, this league has been an absolute blast. It started slow, but has been crazy fast throughout the week. If we finish the 4th round before Sunday I can get my next write up done, but if it happens after I may need a celebrity person to step in as I am taking the family on a vacation for a few days. I hope everyone has a great weekend and leave my picks alone!

Sorry for the delay everyone, I was on a family vacation throughout Ohio. With that said, I will try and get caught up with what was missed. The pace definitely has slowed, but hopefully we will get back on track soon. The earlier rounds were moving at an amazing pace, so we know it can be done.
Steals of Round 4: Marquise Brown - Cincinnati Bengals - This was a steal with how cheap his contract was and for being picked with the 13th pick in Round 4. My next steal is Jaylon Smith - Kansas City Chiefs - With pick 5 of the 4th round KC got a stud linebacker in Jaylon Smith. If he can stay healthy, he is one of the best at his position. Tyler Locket - Minnesota Vikings - With pick 3 of the 4th round, the talented Tyler Locket went to Minnesota. I was not happy seeing him go to a division rival. If Russel Wilson stays in Seattle, this is a great pick.
Reaches of Round 4: Matt Ryan - Chicago Bears - Lets face it, time in Atlanta is probably starting to run out for Matt. With the 17th pick of the 4th Round the Bears took a chance on Matt Ryan. However, there were not many starting qbs left, so it is a good risk. If he can return to form it will end up being a good pick.
Darrel Henderson - LA Chargers - Darrell Henderson has talent, but most believe he has been taken over by Cam Akers. So taking a backup RB with the 9th pick of the round could be a head scratcher to some. We will see how this pans out.
Surprise - We had our first missed pick by Seattle. Hopefully this doesn't happen again.
Thanks everyone!

Just got done coloring some easter eggs with the kids, so it is now time for our Round 5 Recap.
Steals of Round 5 - Allen Robinson - Atlanta Falcons - Getting this kind of talent with pick 22 of Round 5 is crazy. He is only on a 1 year deal so Atlanta has the opportunity to extend him if he wants. It will be interesting to see where he ends up playing next year though.
Jabril Peppers - Indianapolis Colts - Jabril is a playmaker and racks up fantasy points. Budda Baker went right before him at pick 1, so Jabril was a good selection with pick 2.
Myles Garrett - Washington - Myles Garrett is a stud Defensive lineman, but is also paid like one. So he is a good pick this late in the game if you have the cap space. Myles is one of the best in the game at his position.
Reaches of Round 5: Quintez Cephus - LA Rams - With the 13th pick of Round 5, I felt this is a little early for Quintez. I am a big fan of his as a fellow Badgers fan, but thought this was a little earlier than he could have gotten him. But he is a cheap starting receiver, so this could pay off for the Rams.
Jaylon Ferguson - Seattle Seahawks - With the 11th pick of the 5th round, I felt there was better talent out there to be had at this position like Jordan Hicks or Eric Kendricks. We will see how this plays out though.
Nasir Adderley - Tampa Bay - Just when Tampa thought he was in the clear, he totally redeemed himself and made his way on to a reach of the round. Nasir has a team friendly contract, so if he puts up solid numbers, it can be a great pick, but I think he could have gotten him a round or 2 later.
Surprises of Round 5:
Minnesota Vikings picks a player with a 1 contract for the 2nd time. Like ESPN Countdown would say, Come On Man.
The 2nd surprise of the round was the run on safeties. 5 of the first 6 picks of the round were safeties.
I hope everyone has a Happy Easter and enjoy spending time with family. I will be on time with the rest of the recaps.
Thanks,
Jesse

Here is our Round 6 Recap:
Steals:
Myles Jack - Miami Dolphins - With the 8th pick of the 6th round the Dolphins got a steal in Jack. He is a stud linebacker who will rack up the points for them.
Aaron Donald - New England Patriots - New England selects Aaron Donald with the last pick of the 6th round. He is a monster and probably the best defensive player in the NFL. His contract is pretty high, but well worth it for a d lineman that puts up the numbers Donald does.
Mecole Hardman - Cleveland Browns - I love the Hardman pick. With Sammy Watkins leaving for Baltimore, that leaves more receptions available for Hardman. His speed and touchdown potential make this a great pick.
Reaches - Hunter Renfrow - New York Jets - I like Renfrow as a player, but he hasn't lived up to his potential thus far. I feel there were some better receivers on the board at this time.
Khari Willis - Buffalo Bills - With the first pick of the 6th round the Bills took Khari Willis. His contract is very cheap so this may end up working out, but there were definitely better safeties on the board at this time.

Here is our Round 7 Recap:
Steals: Za"Darius Smith - Minnesota Vikings - Za'Darius is a monster and will rack up the fantasy points. I would have taken him if I had more cap room, but this is a great pick for Minnesota. I hate seeing him in the Purple.
Danielle Hunter - San Francisco - Hunter was next up in my Queue, so I really like this pick. If he can get back to full strength he is capable of being the best at his position fantasy wise. However, it will be interesting to see if he stays in Minnesota.
Andrew Van Ginkel - New York Jets - Van Ginkel is somewhat of an unknown, but for how cheap his contract is, this is a steal. Year 2 should add more to his fantasy value.
Reaches - Kirk Cousins - Green Bay Packers - Yes, I am giving myself the biggest reach here. I needed a quarterback, so had to pay the price for Cousins big contract. I may get a top qb in the draft, but we will see. The Cousins pick seemed to start a little run on bottom qbs.
Sam Darnold - Carolina Panthers - With Darnold's uncertainty on if he will remain a Jet or even a starting QB, this was a little big of a reach. However, he is still on his Rookie contract so it could be worth a flier on him.
Lynn Bowden - New York Giants - Bowden is rumored to be losing his eligibility as a running back, so that would impact his draft slot. If he remains a Running back, this is a fine pick, but it is rumored that Miami will be switching him to wr. He is one player I am interested to see how he does this year.
Surprises - 3 qbs went off the board. Cousins, Darnold, and Goff. It looks like no starting qbs remain.

I am a little late again as life gets busy, but here is our Round 8 Recap:
Steals Mike Williams - Seattle Seahawks - If Mike Williams can stay healthy for a full season, he is capable of putting up some great fantasy numbers. He is a great compliment to Keenan Allen and with Hebert throwing to him, this can end up being a solid pick.
Sterling Shepard - San Francisco - I was really hoping he would fall 2 more picks as I was planning on taking him. Shepard is the number 1 receiver in New York, but like Williams, is often plagued by injury issues. If he stays healthy, this can be a great pick this late in the draft.
Jordan Whitehead - Buffalo Bills - A young stud safety on the cheap in Round 8 is a solid pick. I really like Whitehead.
Jarvis Landry - Miami Dolphins - He continues to be a big threat fantasy wise. Round 8 is a steal for him.
David Johnson - Arizona Cardinals - A starting running back this late in the draft can end up being a huge steal if Johnson can return to any form of his potential. Who else will be on the Texans team is the big question.
Reaches - Harrison Butker - Kansas City Chiefs - Butker is one of the best kickers in the league on a team that will put up lots of points, so the pick really isn't a head scratcher. However, round 8 seemed a little early to take the first one. Indianapolis followed suit later in the round with Blankenship as well, so we will make that our 2nd reach.
Krys Barnes - Denver Broncos - I liked Barnes production last year on the Packers, but I do not see him starting this year. His contract is cheap, so if he makes another jump this pick could pan out.
Surprises - 2 kickers off the board in Round 8. Lets see if the trend will continue.

Round 9 Draft Recap: Steals Brandin Cooks - Chicago Bears - Cooks is one of the last remaining weapons in Houston. If he gets a qb to throw to him, this will be a great pick for Chicago.
Dexter Lawrence - Philadelphia Eagles - Lawrence is a monster up front for the Giants. The Eagles landed themselves a good one up front.
Rashan Gary - Cleveland Browns - I love Rashan Gary and he only is getting better. He has been working hard to get more playing time for the Packers, and this will pay off for the Browns.
Reaches Dawson Knox - Indianapolis Colts - Shon and the Colts pulled the trigger and got their tight end in Dawson Knox, but there were some better ones on the draft board at this time. We will see if Knox can have a bounce back year for him or not.
Surprises - Julio Jones if finally off the board. One of the best fantasy wide receivers in the game got taken in Round 9. His age and his huge contract was probably the reason why.
Lets see if we can get the pace going like it once was. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Round 10 Draft Recap: I hope everyone is doing well. The pace is starting to pick up again and we are almost at the end of our first part of our draft.
Steals: Tyrann Mathieu - Detroit Lions - The Honey Badger is a beast and will continue to rack up fantasy points. He is a great pick in the 10th round.
Julian Blackmon - Baltimore Ravens - Blackmon looked like he belonged as a rookie for the Colts. He is on a cheap contract and will only get better. I was hoping he would fall.
Emmanuel Sanders - Jacksonville Jaguars - Emmanuel Sanders in Buffalo will be a good compliment to Diggs and Beasley. Can't go wrong with him in Round 10.
Reaches: It is hard to find reaches this late in the draft, but I will give some possible ones.
Chris Herndon - Arizona Cardinals - Which Chris Herndon will we see. Who will be throwing to him? This could be a reach or it could work out. We will see.
Randy Gregory - Carolina Panthers - He is cheap which is a bonus, but there were definitely better dlinemen out there at this time.
Surprises - Aaron Jones was drafted for the 3rd time, although an accident. The recently retired Patrick Chung was also accidentally drafted as well.
Lets keep up the great work.

Round 11 Recap - Going forward I am just going to do Steals of the round since there are no Reaches anymore, except if you are Burk or Shon.
Steals: AJ Epenesa - Pittsburgh - I love AJ as a pick here and think he will keep progressing into a solid defender for the Bills.
Salvon Ahmed - New York Giants - As a late flyer for a running back, this could turn out to be a good pick. In his limited action, I liked what I saw.
Anthony Miller - Philadelphia Eagles - If Miller gets traded to a team with an actual decent QB, he could put up some solid fantasy numbers.
Justin Simmons - LV Raiders - Although he makes a lot of money, Simmons is a solid safety and will help the Raiders out fantasy wise.

Round 12 Recap
Steals: Cameron Dantzler - Denver Broncos - He showed some big upside later in the season. This is a great pick given his contract. Joey Bosa - Kansas City Chiefs - If you can afford his contract, this is a huge pick in the 12th round. If he stays healthy, he is one of the best in the game. Damien Williams - Houston Texans - It will be interesting to see what he looks like after a year off. If he is anything like his last season, he has a chance to make an impact. Khalil Mack - New England Patriots - Like Bosa, Mack is one of the best in the game. He has a big contract, but will produce for you. Eric Ebron - Tampa Bay - For a 12th Round Tight End, Ebron is solid. He is a favorite target for Big Ben.

Round 13 Steals:
Landon Collins - SF 49ers - Landon is year in and year out one of the best safeties in the league. Great pick.
Chris Jones - Carolina - Chris Jones is a beast on the dline and will rack up the points for the Panthers.
Jacob Eason - New Orleans - This was a big sleeper pick, but if he pans out would be a great pick.
Logan Ryan - Miami - I love Logan Ryan's fantasy production, especially this late in the draft.
Jamycal Hasty - San Diego - If Hasty gets more touches in the 49ers backfield, this will be a great pick.
Anfernee Jennings - Baltimore - As a rookie last year, Jennings looked like he belongs and for a cheap contract, I love this pick.
Leonard Williams - Vikings - I am not happy to see him moving into the division. This was a solid pick this late in the draft.
